With attendance at over 500 concerts, meticulously cataloged, Andrew has been captivated by the live music experience from his very first concert (The Allman Brothers Band at 15, attended with his mom). With the world of live music opened, he quickly found tape trading and amassed a collection of over 10,000 minutes of live recordings on Maxell XL-IIs, diving into message boards of the early internet.
Andrew’s live music passion and collector’s mentality dovetailed with eras in his professional life, working with media in professional sports, marketing for the Los Angeles Times and Chicago Tribune, and managing innovation across a broad set of industries.
These experiences came together in the GA pit of a Wrigley Field Dead & Co. show, where the first inkling of a card to turn people on to his favorite versions of live Dead songs was born. Returning from the show with covid, Andrew couldn’t escape the idea, fleshing it out into a more coherent concept across several days of fever dreams.
